Vehicle Safety Advice - Help Prevent Vehicle Crime

Dear Resident, 

We have seen an increase in reports of theft from motor vehicles and theft of motor vehicles. We are asking residents to take a few simple steps to help protect their vehicles and belongings.

✅ Always lock your vehicle, even if leaving it unattended for only a short time.

✅ Remove all valuables from sight, including bags, wallets, mobile phones, tools, and electronic devices.

✅ Do not leave vehicle keys near doors, windows, or letterboxes. Consider using a signal-blocking pouch for keyless entry vehicles.

✅ Ensure all windows, sunroofs, and doors are fully secured when parking.

✅ Park in well-lit areas where possible and consider using additional security devices such as steering wheel locks, tracking devices, or alarms.

✅ If you own a van, remove tools overnight whenever possible and consider fitting extra locks and tool safes.

Please remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, persons acting suspiciously around vehicles, or vehicles being driven in unusual circumstances. If a crime is taking place, call 999 immediately. For non-emergency matters, report online or by calling 101.

By taking a few simple precautions, we can work together to reduce vehicle crime and keep our community safe.
