How we are keeping you safe during the High Holy Days

I would like to take this opportunity to wish our Jewish community in Tower Hamlets a Happy New Year as we approach Rosh Hashanah, and to reassure you of our policing plan across the upcoming Jewish festivals. 

In preparation for the High Holy Days, the MPS has been working closely with members of our Independent Advisory Group, Jewish community leaders, Shomrim, the Community Security Trust and our Protective Security team. Using our experience of policing previous events, we have put together a policing plan to keep you safe across this period.

Your local neighbourhood officers will be focused on providing a visible and supportive presence, ensuring members of the Jewish community can celebrate and observe this important period safely and with confidence.

During key dates and times, we will be committing extra officers to patrol around synagogues and local communities. We will also be deploying specialist officers, who will be less visible, to provide additional security. 

All officers have been briefed on the significance of these observances to the Jewish community, and if you see any of our officers, please do not hesitate to approach them with any issues or concerns you may have. 

If you witness suspicious or criminal activity, please report it by calling 999 or 101 to inform the police about anything that is not urgent.
