Operation Packer - Safer Roads |
||
|
Yesterday, officers from the City of Manchester North Neighbourhood Policing Team worked alongside colleagues from the Roads Policing Unit, Motorbike Unit and Tutor Unit as part of a proactive road safety operation on Ashton New Road at the junction with Stokes Street. Between 9:20am and 11:30am, a total of 56 vehicles were stopped and checked. Three vehicles were seized, while officers dealt with a range of offences including driving without insurance, seatbelt offences, mobile phone use behind the wheel, failing to comply with traffic signs and signals, and other vehicle-related offences. Sixteen traffic offence reports were issued, and a further ten motorists received advice and education around road safety and legal requirements. Encouragingly, 30 vehicles and drivers were found to be fully compliant. These operations are designed to keep roads safe for everyone by tackling dangerous driving behaviours, identifying uninsured vehicles, and engaging with road users to promote safer driving standards across Manchester. Thank you to everyone who cooperated with officers during the operation. Together, we can help make our roads safer for all.
