Theft from Motor Vehicle - Please take extra steps to prevent yourself from being a victim of crime

We're reminding residents in Puckeridge, Tewin, Watton-at-Stone, Aston and Dane End to take a few simple steps to help keep their vehicles and belongings safe following reports of thefts from vehicles in the area.

Please consider the following crime prevention advice:

• Always lock your vehicle and ensure all windows are fully closed when leaving it unattended.
• Remove valuables from sight or, ideally, take them with you.
• Never leave keys inside your vehicle.
• Keep vehicle keys secure inside your home and away from doors and windows.
• If your vehicle has keyless entry, consider storing keys in a signal-blocking pouch.
• Use additional security devices, such as steering locks, where appropriate.
• Do not leave vehicle documents in your car.

While these incidents remain relatively isolated, taking a few simple precautions can significantly reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime.
