Hello Custom House, All but one of these reported crimes occurred between the 5th and 7th of September. So, while the volume might look a bit higher than usual for Custom House, most of the week was otherwise peaceful. Read on to see the details of what happened, where, and when. Assault 05/09/2026 (Varley Road): An altercation occurred between two women. While the exact details and motives remain vague, it is clear that the parties involved were known to each other, and neither wishes to pursue a prosecution.06/09/2026 (Canning Town Rec Ground): What started as name-calling between two children unfortunately escalated into a physical fight between their fathers. No prosecutions are being pursued.07/09/2026 (Freemasons Road - BJ Wines): One person accidentally bumped into another inside the shop. Instead of brushing it off, the individual who was bumped became aggressive and punched the other person in the face. Theft from a Vehicle 06/09/2026 (Butchers Road): A white male of skinny build, in his late 30s, was seen trying car door handles. He managed to open the boot of one vehicle, but thankfully, nothing was taken.06/09/2026 (Churchill Road): A car was broken into, and tools along with a wallet were stolen.03/09/2026 (Bridgeland Road): A parcel was stolen directly from a delivery van. Theft of a Vehicle 07/09/2026 (Russell Road): A Vauxhall Corsa was stolen. Theft 05/09/2026 (Argyle Road): A delivery driver had both his bicycle and mobile phone stolen. Criminal Damage 06/09/2026 (Devonshire Road): A metal object, believed to be a screw, was thrown at a window. While the victim suspects she knows the person responsible, there is currently no evidence to confirm this. Robbery 05/09/2026 (Prince Regent): A group of teenage boys targeted a 16-year-old, punching him and producing a knife before stealing his phone and clothes. The investigation is active with several promising leads, and we anticipate making arrests in the near future.06/09/2026 (Victoria Dock Road): Shortly after 10:00 PM, a late-night jogger was approached by a group of men in their early 20s, described as Middle Eastern. They pushed him to the ground, made threats, and demanded his phone along with the passcode. General Crime Prevention Advice While hindsight is 20/20, a few simple everyday precautions could have prevented several of these incidents: Clear your vehicle: Always remove all valuables from your car when you leave it parked.Delivery drivers: Even for a quick drop-off, ensure your windows are up and your doors are locked.Lock up: Please make sure your vehicles are locked. Opportunist thieves regularly walk down streets testing door handles, they only keep doing it because they occasionally find an unlocked car.De-escalate: If you are confronted by someone looking for a conflict, please walk away.
