Proactive operation in Epsom sees three arrests and drugs and weapons seized

All off the streets following a joint proactive operation by our local Safer Neighbourhood Team and Neighbourhood Enforcement Team last Friday which resulted in three arrests and multiple drugs and weapons being seized.

At around 6pm, officers spotted a vehicle they believed to be linked to the supply of drugs. A stop check revealed multiple wraps and deal bags of cocaine, as well as more than £500 in cash.

A man in his 20s and a man in his 30s were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

Searches at addresses linked to both men uncovered more cocaine, ketamine, multiple bags of cannabis, several hundred pounds in cash and other paraphernalia associated with drug supply.

And then around 8pm…

Acting on intelligence, community information and old school policing instinct, plain-clothed officers stopped a man in his 40s near Watersedge who was acting suspiciously.

Despite his best efforts to run away, he was detained for a search and multiple wraps of suspected crack cocaine and heroin, as well as two knives were located.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and possession of an offensive weapon/bladed article.

Inspector Tommy Pearson, Borough Commander for Epsom & Ewell, said: “Drug dealing has a significant impact on our communities and remains a key priority for our teams. This activity demonstrates the mix of modern and traditional policing techniques working hand-in-hand.

"Whether you see us or not, our officers are working 24/7 to target and identify those involved in the supply of illegal drugs into our borough."
