🚨 Community Alert - Dangerous E-Bike Riding in Didcot 🚨

Thames Valley Police is appealing for information following reports of anti-social behaviour involving a high-powered electric bicycle in Didcot.

At approximately 18:30 on Monday 7th September, two white males, believed to be in their late teens to early 20s, were seen riding at high speed on a single electric bicycle along a narrow footpath near the junction of Larch Drive and Park Road, Didcot. Both males were described as wearing black clothing. The bike was reported to have knobbly tyres and appeared to be heavily modified.

The riders were reported to be travelling at excessive speed and narrowly avoided colliding with a pedestrian. Further reports suggest similar incidents may have occurred involving other members of the public.
 

Electric bicycles must comply with strict legal requirements to be used on public roads and paths. E-bikes that have been modified to exceed legal speed limits or that can be propelled without pedalling may be classed as motor vehicles and require registration, insurance, and a valid driving licence. Riding at excessive speed on footpaths, particularly where pedestrians are present, puts members of the public at risk of serious injury and will not be tolerated. Thames Valley Police takes reports of dangerous riding and anti-social behaviour seriously and will take appropriate action against those found to be using illegally modified bikes or riding in a manner that endangers others.
