Glossop SNT - Community Speed Watch Event
PCSO Buller and 4 volunteers from the Hadfield Community Speed Watch Team completed an event on Newshaw Lane.,Hadfield this afternoon, Tuesday 8th September.
The event was held there between 3 50 pm and 4.20 pm (lasting only a half hour this time due to heavy rain fall) - and the speed limit is 30 mph on this stretch of road.
On this occasion a total 75 vehicles went by the team during the half hour that the event took place today. With 4 of those vehicles being recorded as speeding above 35 Mph. - with the highest being recorded at 40 mph.
Speeding has been identified by the community in Hadfield as one of their Policing Priorities and the SNT would like to say thank you to the community, from the Hadfield/Padfield and Tintwistle areas, for their help in identifying their concerns regarding speeding, particularly at this location.
Policing isn’t just about tickets, it’s also about education and community involvement, and these speed sites encompass the two.
In addition, speeding is constantly an issue that communities in Derbyshire highlight as being a significant problem for their community and one that they wish to see action taken. That’s why our groups target those areas which have been reported by the community as high-risk roads and where speeding occurs
And lastly the SNT would like to show our thanks and appreciation to the 4 volunteers who gave up their free time today, to try and make our roads that bit safer and in helping to reduce speeding in their community.
If you think we should be concentrating on other areas of crime and not speeding, then please fill in one of Our Community Voice Surveys so that we can find more ways to support you and help to identify those issues that are affecting your community.
