Could a few hours help you become a safer and more confident driver?

Would you like to feel more confident behind the wheel and keep your road safety knowledge up to date? A free OPALS (Older Persons Activity Learning and Safety) Road Safety event is taking place on Thursday 8 October from 10am to 1pm at The View, Panshanger Golf Club, AL7 2ED.

The event is designed to help older drivers stay safe, confident and independent for longer. It provides practical advice, expert guidance and the opportunity to learn more about the support available to help you continue enjoying the benefits of driving.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with experts, test their knowledge, take part in virtual road safety scenarios, receive eye tests and find out more about the services available to support older drivers.

The event is open to drivers aged 65 and over. If you know someone who would benefit from attending, please pass this information on to them.

All guests will be seated and served refreshments. Representatives from a variety of agencies and services will be attending, including the Police and Crime Commissioner, Fire Service, County Council Road Safety Team, Herts Ability and IAM RoadSmart, who will provide advice and information about the services they offer.

It is also a sociable event and a great opportunity to meet other residents from the local area. Attendees will receive a copy of the Highway Code.

The event lasts around three hours. Please arrive on time to ensure you do not miss any of the presentations, activities or free resources available on the day.

Hertfordshire's Police and Crime Commissioner, Jonathan Ash-Edwards, said: "Keeping people safe on our roads is a key priority. It's a great example of local partners working together to support our communities and improve road safety."
