Hi Residents,

I would like to briefly add some crime prevention advice around motor vehicle crime, burglary and ATM card thefts and violence against women and girls for the residents and businesses.

VEHICLE CRIME

Always lock it

Close windows and sun roof to prevent fishing

Secure Number plates with tamper-resistant screws

Fit locking-antitamper wheel nuts

Hide electrical items

Park in wel-lit and busier areas

To thwart catalytic converter theft, ask your car dealer for an advice locks or guards and tested sold Secure Gold

Try to park vehicles in garages, compounds or in wel-lit areas

Register your converter and mark it with a forensic marker for thieves harder to dispose of.

BUSINESS BURGLARIES

A well maintained exterior free of rubbish and graffiti

Service doors locked and secure

Monitored alarm operational

CCTV operational

Wheelie bins stored away

Sufficient lighting around business premises

Moving high-value goods away from display windows

External shutters

Use attack resistant laminated glass frames

Try to cash away from premises

Stock rooms locked

Anti-ram raider bollards mounted externally

Residential Burglaries

Burglar proof doors and windows fitted

Valuables out of sight

Keep handbags away

Never leave ID or Car documents in the hallways or a kitchen

In the evening shut the curtains and lights on

Set your burglary alarm

Side gate locked

Lock your bike inside

CCTV fitted and operational

ATM THEFTS

Be alert

Aware of your surroundings

Be vigilant

If someone taps/distracts you, Ignore them

When left the ATM, put card away

Careful with contactless cards (Can get a card holder to prevent card details being inadvertently read)

VAWG

Violence against women and girls is not manly act and amounts to cowardly action on part of the perpetrators and ought to be nipped in the bud and Met Police doing everything to keep women and girls safe on streets and indoors by employing every possible resource and tool to safeguard our society’s female section. I cite some of the forms of this crime as under:

Domestic Homicide

Domestic abuse

Sexual assault

Abuse as a child

Female genital Mutilation

Forced marriages

Harassment in work and public life including public transport
