Cuckooing: Help Us Protect Vulnerable Residents

We've recently received reports and concerns about vulnerable people being exploited in parts of Wardleworth and Milkstone areas.

"Cuckooing" is when criminals take over someone's home and use it for criminal activity, often involving drugs. The person living there may be vulnerable, isolated, struggling with addiction, have poor health, or simply feel too frightened to say no.

Signs to look out for include lots of visitors coming and going at all hours, unknown people regularly gathering outside an address, increased noise and anti social behaviour, drug-related activity, or a neighbour who suddenly appears withdrawn, scared, or no longer in control of who is entering their home.

These offenders target vulnerable people and often bring fear, crime and disorder into our communities. We want residents to know that support is available and no one should feel trapped in their own home.

If you have concerns about a neighbour, friend or family member who may be being exploited, please report it. You don't need proof. Your information could help safeguard someone who is at risk and enable us to take action against those responsible.

Please continue to tell us about suspicious addresses, vehicles, individuals and ongoing concerns. Every piece of information helps us build a clearer picture and protect those most vulnerable in Wardleworth.
