999 or 101 – Do you know which number to use?

We would like to remind residents about when to contact the police on 999 and when to use 101 or report online.

📞 CALL 999 IF:

🔴 A crime is happening right now
🔴 Someone is in immediate danger
🔴 There is an immediate threat to life
🔴 Someone is using violence or threatening to use violence
🔴 The suspect is still at the scene and there is an immediate risk

📱 USE 101 OR REPORT ONLINE IF:

🟢 A crime has already happened
🟢 You want to report suspicious activity where there is no immediate danger
🟢 You have information about a crime
🟢 You are experiencing anti-social behaviour or ongoing nuisance
🟢 You need to report a non-emergency matter

Please remember – if it is happening now and requires an immediate police response, call 999.

If it has already happened and there is no immediate risk, you can report it online or by calling 101.

Your reports are important. Even if you don’t think an incident is significant, reporting it can help us build an accurate picture of crime and anti-social behaviour in the community and identify where further police activity may be required.
