It's been another busy week for the team, balancing visible neighbourhood policing, community engagement, partnership working and responding to emergencies across the city;

🚲 Community Engagement & Bike Register Event

PC Tom and PCSO Donna were at Town Square hosting a bike register event, helping cyclists protect their property and offering crime prevention advice. They also worked alongside local authority partners and residents to address ongoing concerns around antisocial behaviour on the Grand Union Embankment. Further patrols are planned as we continue to tackle these issues.

☕ Local Officer Drop-In

PCSO Jane hosted a local officer drop-in at a city centre café, giving residents and visitors an opportunity to speak directly with their neighbourhood team about issues affecting them and their communities.

🚔 Supporting Emergency Response

Neighbourhood officers don't just work on the beat: PC Georgie and PC Sahib spent time supporting the force's response function, attending incidents and assisting with the core policing role of responding to crime and emergency calls for service on Bank Holiday Monday.

🚴 Policing History Ride

On Sunday, PC Tom and PCSO Jane took part in the annual Policing History Ride, organised by Leicester City Council. The event brought together around 20 participants for a guided cycle tour exploring Leicester's rich policing history. The ride also provided an opportunity for open and honest conversations about modern policing, with attendees asking a range of thoughtful and challenging questions about policing today. Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive.

📨 Tackling Antisocial Behaviour

PC Dean has continued his work identifying young people involved in antisocial behaviour in the city centre. Over the past two weeks, he has issued 53 warning letters to parents and guardians, ensuring families are made aware of concerns and helping us intervene early before behaviour escalates further.

🛍️ Working to Reduce Retail Crime

Retail crime remains a key priority. PC Tom and Sgt Zane attended partnership meetings with senior officers and stakeholders to explore new technology that could help identify offenders, support investigations and strengthen our overall approach to tackling retail crime across the city.

🏛️ During the Policing History Ride, participants stopped at Leicester Town Hall, home to the Borough Police from 1875 until the move to Charles Street in 1933. Above a former police entrance is an intriguing decorative panel featuring day and night imagery, a fitting reminder that policing has been serving Leicester around the clock for generations. 🚔✨
