Morning everyone. Thought I would give you an update on last nights ward panel / residents association meeting. We didn't have a great deal to go through but told the tale of the prolific (and I mean PROLIFIC) shoplifter the team nabbed last week, which should help the local businesses greatly. Residents also brought up the following. Burglary - Whilst Merton Park Ward is lower on the grand scheme of things, there was an attempted burglary by a group of suspects recently. Luckily, nothing was taken, but it was obviously distressing to see on the various doorbell cameras. We patrolled the same day, and spoke to a few residents of the street and provided some advice on home security ideas.Bikes - Cycling on the pavement was brought up, and we explained that when we do see cyclists on the pavement / going through red lights, we always try and speak to them, but cannot be everywhere all at once. Pedestrians walking in cycle lanes were also mentioned, as apparently there have been some arguments too.Notting Hill Carnival - It was asked what impact it had on local teams so our attending PC explained that the event takes a lot of resourcing.Stolen motor vehicles - There were a couple of stolen cars on Wessex avenue recently, which were dumper, and then re-stolen. We explained that something of this nature would be a 101/999 call to help us be in the area.Met Engage - Lastly, our online comms tool was mentioned and we said that we still need a lot more people signed up!That was it from a policing point of view, but please could you let me know your thoughts, issues and worries by return of email, and also by filling out the below survey! Thanks everyone, and hope you don't need us! (But if you do, then 101/999). Dave and the team. (Sorry I wasn't around much in August, I had some much needed time away, and some training courses too!)
