Identity Fraud Scam Warning

There have been reports of a telephone scam currently circulating.

The caller may contact you from a withheld number and claim to be a police officer. They will state that you have been the victim of identity fraud and ask you to call 999 after a beep. The scammer then keeps the line open, making it appear as though you have been connected to a genuine 999 operator.

The person posing as the call handler may ask questions about your finances, including how much money you have, and may claim they can help keep your money safe.

Do not engage with the caller. Hang up immediately.

This is not a genuine police officer, and this is not a procedure that the police would carry out.

Please make your friends, family, and colleagues aware of this scam, particularly anyone who may be vulnerable to fraudsters.
