Lozells and East Handsworth Neighbourhood update 12/08/2026 – 26/08/2026

Welcome to this week’s crime and community update for the Lozells and East Handsworth area. Our neighbourhood team remains committed to tackling key crime issues affecting residents, especially around domestic abuse, robbery, burglary, and vehicle crime. We also continue to engage with schools and local partners to provide early intervention and support.

🛑 Crime Updates

Burglary:

We have received one report of burglary in the last 15 days. Burglary happened between 1:15am and 1:40am on 24/08/2026 – Soho Hill

➡️ Please remain vigilant and review your home security — consider alarms, CCTV, and good lighting.

Vehicle Crime:

There have been three reported Theft of Motor vehicle.

Incident happened between 12am and 9am on 18/08/2026 – Westminster Road

Incident happened between 8am on 29/07/2026 and 9am on 21/08/2026 – Archibald Road

Incident happened between 2pm and 9:25pm on 25/08/2026 – Wilton Road

There has been one report of Theft from motor vehicle on Holly Road. Incident happened between 9pm on 22/08/2026 and 10am on 23/08/2026.

➡️ Key-less entry theft remains a concern. Please use Faraday pouches, remove visible items, and consider physical deterrents like steering wheel locks.

Theft of pedal cycle:

There have been three reported incidents of theft of pedal cycle.

Between 10:53am and 12:43pm on 18/08/2026 Wellesbourne Road.

Between 8:20pm on 19/08/2026 and 2:46pm on 20/08/2026 – Hamstead Road.

Between 10:30pm on 19/08/2026 and 10am on 20/08/2026 – Calthorpe Road.

Team Highlights

12/08/2026 - Inspector Goodwin returns to the Perry Barr area after initially starting his career here on the 10th April 2000. He has always enjoyed working with the people of this great Community. "My teams and I will be relentless in supporting those who live and work in our areas.”

13/08/2026 - 13/08/2026 – PCSO Atterbury &PC Manns attended Makki Masjid to deliver a workshop to young people. Officers covered the topics of Safety and Anti-social behaviour.

17/08/2026 - Inspector Goodwin met with Councillor Uddin to talk about local issues in Lozells. On joint walk numerous drivers were advised and seven tickets issued for pavement parking.

18/08/2026 - Our SIPO delivered a session at Handsworth Library about staying safe on Soho Road.

19/08/2026 – PCSO Atterbury attended Joint Surgery with Councillor Mahmood (Birchfield Ward.)

25/08/2026 – PCSO RIAZ and the Parking enforcement team patrolling Lozells. Issuing tickets where appropriate.

Upcoming Event

Police Drop in surgeries at Cannon Street Memorial Baptist Church, 300 Soho Road – 12pm until 1pm.

Tuesday 24th November 2026.

Councillor Freshwater (Handsworth Ward) and Police Drop in surgery Handsworth Library Soho Road 2pm until 4pm.

Currently arranging more dates.

Councillor Mahmood (Birchfield Ward) and Police Drop in surgery Grosvenor Road Studios, 16 Grosvenor Road 6pm until 7pm.
