To support City Centre businesses with retail crime and tackle perpetrators 

 YOU SAID: 

-Retail crime effects shopping areas of the City Centre and you would like to see action to tackle this and support our retailers.

*AUGUST UPDATE*

WE DID:

-Sergeant Zane and PC Tom have attended Tesco HQ to discuss a dedicated retail crime platform and how we can help support them and the wider retail industry. 

-PC Karl has submitted 2 new criminal behaviour orders to the courts to tackle 2 prolific shop lifters and implement strong conditions to tackle their offending. 

-Held tailored retail visits at Tesco and Next to help support our business community. During these visits officers discuss security measures and make recommendations to promote safety and prevent theft. 

-Following a short investigation 2 suspects have been charged following a significant theft from Boots. 

-PC Dean has been supporting the Haymarket shopping centre with retails and ASB concerns.

-PCSO Tim has continued his proactive patrols around key retail areas resulting in 3 suspects being arrested, 1 receiving an out of court disposal and 2 young people educated about their actions. 

-A dedicated team of officers have been working to bring retail crime offenders to justice with a significant increase in arrests and charges. 

Priority 2

To tackle vehicle related crime and anti-social behaviour in the City Centre

YOU SAID: 

-You want to visit the City Centre and not experience vehicle anti-social behaviour. You are concerned about motor vehicles committing driving offences and causing parking issues in the City Centre.

*AUGUST UPDATE*

WE DID:

-Officers conducted proactive work around Granby Street resulting in 4 vehicles being seized for no insurance and driving in an anti-social manner. Another driver was dealt with for a drug related offence. 

-Operation Pedalfast has been deployed in various locations around the city centre to tackle un-insured e-scooters and non-compliant e-bikes. We have now seized over 900 vehicles. 

-We have conducted 5 Bike Register events this month. Bike Register helps police quickly identify recovered bikes and return them to their rightful owners. Its visible security markings also deter thieves and support investigations into cycle theft and associated offenders. Look at our website for our upcoming dates. 

-PC Tom is also investigating 2 drivers who failed to stop for officers. They have now been identified and will face prosecution for driving offences. 

Priority 3

To tackle anti-social behaviour in the area of Granby Street, Belvior Street and Town Hall Square

 YOU SAID: 

-You want to enjoy the Town Hall Square, Granby Street, Belvior and surrounding area but ASB caused by people and vehicles prevents this.

*AUGUST UPDATE*

WE DID:

-3 significant arrests were made at Town Hall Square. Resulting in the seizure of over £1500 of cash, Class A and B drugs valued over £5000 and equipment to manufacture drugs. 1 subject remanded and 2 bailed with conditions pending further enquires. 

-The team have continued to conduct dedicated patrols in this area and utilising their stop and search powers were grounds exists. 

-The team are currently working with the Leicester City Council to improve the area and look at long term environment solutions. 

-A male responsible for consistent ASB in the area has been issued with a community protection warning. A Community Protection Warning can have a significant impact by formally addressing anti-social behaviour at an early stage, encouraging positive change and helping to prevent further harm, distress, or escalation within the community.
