Distraction Theft Warning – College Road, Bromsgrove

Dear Resident,

Police are investigating a distraction theft that occurred on College Road, Bromsgrove, on the evening of 24 August.

A member of the public was approached by a male who got out of a car and asked for directions. During the interaction, the offender offered the victim an item of jewellery and whilst distracting them, removed a gold necklace from the victim. The offender then left the area in the vehicle with a second male who remained inside the car.

Distraction thieves often appear friendly and may ask for directions, offer gifts or jewellery, request help, or attempt to engage people in conversation so they can get close enough to steal jewellery, watches, wallets, purses, or other valuables.

How to Keep Safe

If you witness suspicious individuals approaching members of the public in a similar manner, please report it to West Mercia Police.
