⚠️ ROGUE TRADER WARNING – PLEASE SHARE

Residents are being warned following an increase in reports of two males going door-to-door offering to clean gutters, in the Barry area.

They are reportedly stating they are “doing everyone’s gutters in the street” and charging £65. In some cases, no work has been carried out despite payment being taken. There are also reports of the males requesting residents’ bank cards.

🛑 Prevention advice:

Don’t feel pressured into agreeing to work or making an immediate payment.

Use a trusted trader and get quotes before agreeing to any work.

Don’t allow unexpected callers into your home.

Never hand over your bank card, PIN or banking details to unexpected callers.

If possible, note descriptions, vehicles and registration numbers and retain any CCTV footage.

If you have concerns about a caller, keep them out and contact a trusted person for advice.

If you believe you have been a victim of rogue trading, report it to Trading Standards and/or the police. In an emergency or if you feel threatened, call 999.
