I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Vehicle crime (theft from or theft of), which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Dear Residents
Please be aware that there have been several reports of theft of EV car charging cable's in the Warsop area. Please be vigilant when charging your vehicles. Below is some examples of security measures you can take.
🔒 LOCK IT
• Use your vehicle's charging cable lock function where available.
• Consider an additional cable lock for extra security.
• Ensure the cable is securely connected before leaving the vehicle.
💡 LIGHT IT
• Charge in well-lit, busy locations where possible.
• Install motion-activated lighting at home charging points.
• Avoid charging overnight in isolated locations.
📹 WATCH IT
• Use CCTV, video doorbells, or security cameras to monitor charging areas.
• Park where there is natural surveillance from neighbours or passers-by.
• Display CCTV signage where appropriate.
🔖 MARK IT
• Property mark your charging cable with a UV pen or forensic marking product.
• Record serial numbers and keep photographs of your cable.
• Register valuable property on recognised property databases if available.
🏠 STORE IT
• Disconnect and store portable charging cables when not in use.
• Avoid leaving charging equipment unsecured or visible in your vehicle.
• Use cable management systems to keep cables tidy and less accessible.
🚔 REPORT IT
Report suspicious behaviour, such as:
• People loitering around charging points.
• Individuals examining or tampering with charging cables.
• Attempts to remove charging equipment.
