Arrests 

Last week saw a total of 22 arrests made in Wealden.

We arrested 3 drivers in Hailsham, Heathfield and Stone Cross for drink driving, and 2 in Frant and Pevensey for drug driving.

2 arrests were made for assault in Uckfield and Pevensey.

We arrested an individual for burglary in Stone Cross.

Other offences included criminal damage, stalking, GBH and controlling/coercive behaviour.

We continue to encourage the public to get in touch if they see or hear anything that w need to be aware of.

Man sentenced for rape

A teenage girl, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was groomed by a man from Crowborough. She has described the "devastating and lifelong impact" of his sexual abuse in.

The 39-year-old was found guilty of 11 charges which included sexual assault by penetration. He is now serving an extended 21-year sentence.

Detective Inspector Mors Lambert said: "It is clear that he groomed the victim and abused her in the most appalling way. She should have been able to trust him in his role, but he abused that trust by committing sexual offences over a two-year period."

Do you own a keyless entry vehicle?

Motorists with keyless entry vehicles are being urged to take steps to keep their property secure and prevent thieves.

Keyless car theft is when a device is used to fool the car into thinking the key is close by, which unlocks the car and starts the ignition.

There are steps that you can take to prevent theft and keep your vehicle secure:

🔑 When at home keep your car key (and the spare) well away from the car.
👝 Put the keys in a screened or signal-blocking pouch, such as a Faraday Bag and check if the bag or pouch is still working every few months.
🚗 Reprogramme your keys if you buy a second hand car.
📶 Turn off wireless signals on your fob when it's not being used.

CCTV and video doorbell footage that cover your driveway are also highly recommended.
