Closure Order Granted for Shirland Road Address |
||
|
Today marked the culmination of a significant piece of work involving Maida Vale Safer Neighbourhoods Team and our partner agencies.
Following extensive evidence gathering and partnership working, we successfully obtained a Closure Order for an address on Shirland Road that had been contributing to anti-social behaviour in the local area.
The address had become the focus of ongoing concerns, with a vulnerable resident being subjected to cuckooing, a form of exploitation where criminals take over a person's home for criminal activity. As a result of today's order, the resident has now been safeguarded, the premises secured, and those responsible for the anti-social behaviour and associated criminality will be prevented from using the address as a base.
This outcome demonstrates what can be achieved when police, local authorities and support services work together to protect vulnerable people and improve the quality of life for local residents.
Importantly, identifying addresses affected by cuckooing and the harm associated with them is often only possible because members of the public come forward with information. If something does not seem right in your street or neighbourhood, please report it. Information can be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.
Thank you to everyone involved in bringing this matter to a successful conclusion and, most importantly, helping to safeguard a vulnerable member of our community.
