Suspected drugs and large cash haul seized after Paignton stop check.

A proactive stop-check by police officers on patrol in Paignton over the weekend has resulted in the seizure of suspected drugs and a large quantity of cash - believed to be in the tens of thousands of pounds.

A 20-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs and driving without insurance after police took action on Sunday 23 August. He has since been released on bail until a date in late November.  

Paignton Sector Inspector Pete Giesens explained: “Sometimes a routine stop can uncover something more than just an overdue MOT. This proactive work helps take suspected drugs and illicit cash off the streets, while also tackling offences that can put other road users at risk.”

Following the stop-check on Sunday, investigations continue and the cash and substances seized are subject to further enquiries.
