Police are currently supporting the London Fire Brigade at a significant fire in the Goat Road area of Mitcham, first reported during the afternoon of 26 August 2026. The incident has affected commercial premises and surrounding land, resulting in a substantial emergency service response. There are currently no reports of serious injuries though some local residents have been temporarily displaced. The scale of the incident has led to road closures and ongoing disruption in the local area. Police remain on scene assisting with maintaining cordons and supporting partner agencies as emergency services continue their response. Favourable weather conditions overnight have assisted firefighting efforts, and the fire is now under control. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
