Dear Resident, Thank you to one caller who took four caring and kind steps to make sure an elderly man was safe earlier this week.
1. Finding the man wandering alone and confused on the street at just before 9pm one night, the woman called 999.
2. The man, in his 90s, gave his name and address so she took the time out of her evening to drive him home.
3. She also checked he definitely lived there with a neighbour, and stayed so he wasn't on his own.
4. She remained with him until officers arrived, fearing he would go wandering again.
These may seem like small steps to some, but we want people to know that compassion like this does not go unnoticed, and we are so thankful for every single step others take to help us keep people safe.

Officers arrived at the man’s Fenland home and took the time to speak to a family member about the Herbert Protocol. Have you heard of it?
It’s a scheme we support that encourages family and friends to fill out a form that collates key pieces of info about their loved one living with dementia in case they go missing - such as a physical description, familiar places, health details and a recent photo.
So far, 550 people have filled out our new Herbert Protocol form online, and you can do the same here (if you live in Cambridgeshire) by clicking here.
You can also register your interest for one of our smart wristbands on the form. The yellow wristbands store the name and contact details of a wearer’s next of kin so that if someone gets lost, members of the public can quickly access contact details and reunite them - often taking away the need to call police.
