Yesterday, PC Hempsey was out on patrol in the Eckington area when his eagle eye spotted a vehicle he had recent intelligence about being driven with no insurance.
After speaking with the driver and carrying out the necessary checks, it was confirmed that the vehicle was uninsured resulting in the vehicle being seized under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act.
PC Hempsey also had reasonable grounds to suspect the presence of controlled drugs and, as a result, conducted a search of both the driver and the vehicle under Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act.
We will continue to conduct high-visibility patrols throughout the area, using intelligence-led policing to identify and deal with those involved in criminal and anti-social behaviour.
