We continue to tackle retail crime across the city centre, with our neighbourhood team carrying out regular foot patrols throughout the week. Last week, their proactive work resulted in 10 arrests linked to retail crime offences. Retail crime affects far more than businesses. It can leave staff feeling vulnerable, impact customers' experiences, and contribute to anti-social behaviour and violence in our communities. Here’s a breakdown of the arrests… A man in his 30s was arrested on Little London Street (16 Aug) on suspicion of three shop thefts. He has since been charged for all three offences.A woman in her 40s was arrested on Clancy Road (17 Aug) on suspicion of three shops thefts and a failing to appear warrant. She has since been charged for all three offences.A man in his 30s was arrested on Gentleman’s Walk (18 Aug) on suspicion of four shop thefts and three breaches of a Criminal Behaviour Order. He has since been charged for all offences.A man in his 60s was arrested on Haymarket (19 Aug) on suspicion of shop theft and 11 fail to appear court warrants. He has since been charged and has received a two week suspended sentenced.A man in his 50s was arrested on London Street (19 Aug) on suspicion of eight shop thefts and five fail to appear court warrants and has since been charged for these.A man in his 40s was arrested on London Street (19 Aug) on suspicion of three shop thefts and four failing to appeal court warrants and has since been charged.A man in his 30s was arrested on St Peter’s Street (20 Aug) on suspicion of shop theft and breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order and has subsequently been charged.A man in his 40s was arrested on Gentleman’s Walk (20 Aug) on suspicion of breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order. He has since been charged and sentenced to 16 weeks in prison.A man in his 50s was arrested on Albion Way (20 Aug) on suspicion of shop theft and has since been charged.A man in his 30s was arrested on London Street (21 Aug) on suspicion of four shop thefts and sexual assault. He has since been charged and sentenced for the four shop thefts.Some of the items reported stolen following these thefts include trainers, alcohol, laundry products, meat and a wheelchair. |
