🚨 SMART Alert: Romance Fraud Awareness 🚨 |
||
|
We would like to remind residents to stay vigilant when using dating websites, social media, and messaging apps. Romance fraud occurs when criminals create fake online profiles to gain someone's trust and affection before asking for money, bank details, or personal information. These fraudsters can spend weeks or even months building a relationship before making their request. Warning Signs of Romance Fraud: ❤️ They declare strong feelings very quickly. Protect Yourself: ✅ Never send money to someone you have not met in person. If you believe you have been a victim of romance fraud, report it immediately to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or online at www.actionfraud.police.uk. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999. Please share this message with friends, family members, and anyone who may be vulnerable to this type of scam.
