Officers from the Smiths wood neighbourhood team are continuing to conduct proactive patrols and take preventative measures to tackle vehicle crime, across all Smiths wood, Kingshurst and Castle Bromwich.
Simple Steps to Keep Your Vehicle Safe –
Keyless ignition owners should use a Faraday pouch for their fob. All drivers should consider a steering lock, park in well – lit visible areas, lock their vehicle, remove valuables and ensure windows, sunroof, and wing mirrors are closed/ folded. Unfolded mirrors may signal an unlocked car to thieves.
What has been happening? Good news –
Officers have made several arrests this week in relation to domestic incidents and thefts from shops.
PC Wheatley has been taking part in a new initiative visiting local youths who are heading in the direction of knife crime and exploitation. This initiative concentrates on prevention and intervention to reduce knife crime.
PCSO’s Khan and Collins have located a stolen vehicle (Ford Kuga) this evening in Auckland Drive. The vehicle has been recovered.
The team in collaboration with partners and local councillors took part in a multi-Agency community initiative tackling anti-social behaviour in the Smiths Wood area.
Following complaints around speeding, we have conducted a speed watch with our local volunteer group in Green Lane and Hurst Lane North, monitoring the 20mph limit that is in force. Unfortunately, we caught numerous vehicles travelling over the speed limit.
Please be mindful of the changes across the borough where 20mph limits are in place. If the 20mph limit is only in place during school times, there will be a signage to inform you of this. If there is no signage confirming this then it will always be a 20mph limit.
The team helped run the Open Day at Chelmsley Wood Police Station on the 18th of August. It was a well-attended event and received lots of good feedback.
The Smiths Wood Officers & PCSO’s supported West Midlands Fire Service as they tackled the fires across the Force area and in particularly holding the cordon around the Stourbridge incident. Our thoughts are with the Stourbridge community and all those affected.
