Local Drug dealing / Drug use Message |

Here’s a quick update on drugs dealing crime in your area, please be reassured that we’re taking this seriously and are here to help.
On Tuesday 18th August, officers from Bellingham and Sydenham SNT stopped two males outside Bellingham Green, SE6, due to witnessing a drug deal. The male dealing the drugs was arrested for supplying Class A drugs, and the male receiving the drugs was arrested for possession of Class A drugs; in total, three wraps of Class A drugs were recovered. The drugs were tested in custody, showing a positive indication for crack cocaine. Both were interviewed at the police station. The male receiving the drugs admitted in interview to possessing Class A drugs and stated that he got the drugs from the other person arrested and that he paid the other person for it. The male dealing the drugs provided a no comment interview. The male receiving the drugs was given a police caution, so if he is found with Class A drugs again he will be charged for the offence instead and convicted at court. The male dealing the drugs was charged for supplying crack cocaine and has since been remanded in prison awaiting trial in September 2026. This is a fantastic result for the SNT to get a drug dealer charged - this male is one we have been observing for a while and suspected he was dealing but did not have the evidence to arrest or charge him for supplying drugs until now. As the deal was witnessed by three police officers, we are confident that the dealer will be convicted at court. We will update you with the result of the trial when it has concluded. Your SNT are very proactive and are eager to deal with the drug dealers on the ward so please report any drug-related suspicious activity as we will try and deal with it the best we can. Drug dealing is often linked with violent crime and the exploitation of vulnerable people, and discarded drug equipment can be a health risk and counts as antisocial behaviour.
We’ve put hundreds more officers on the frontlines of community crime-fighting teams, upping visible patrols in the right ‘hot spots’ so we can deter and catch criminals.
We are committed to tackling drug dealing wherever we find it. It forms a key part of our recently published ASB Action Plan. We will keep you updated on our efforts to do this in your area, but if you have any concerns or evidence, it is important you report this as soon as possible.
If you have experienced drug dealing in your area, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.met.police.uk or call the non-emergency number 101.
Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org
