Escooter advice and seizure in Harleston |

|
Yesterday we shared a post all about illegal e-bikes and the dangers they possess. Today we'd like to talk about e-scooters... E-scooters are classed as motor vehicles under the Road Traffic Act 1988, which means they need both a licence and insurance to be used on public roads. The catch? Insurance for privately owned e-scooters isn't currently available, which is where things get a little awkward. As a result, it's currently illegal to ride a privately owned e-scooter on public land. Officers are often contacted about the use of these items, especially in towns across the district, as not only are they illegal but they're also capable of causing injury, to the rider, pedestrians, and other members of the public too. We encourage anyone with information or concerns to continue raising to us- like with e-bikes, pursuing the e-scooters isn't always feasible, but all information gained helps us to tackle the issue.
