New signage in ASB areas |
||
|
As part of our problem management plans tackling long standing issues in the area, the neighbourhood team also work closely with Derby City Council's Community Safety Partnership team around prevention of Anti-Social Behaviour ( ASB) and crime- one such way we do this is through signage in problem areas. All too often we get the excuse from people we are taking enforcement or action against that " Nobody told me i couldn't drink here" or " I didn't know E-Scooters were illegal." These signs were placed in areas we are focusing on in an effort to tackle certain regular issues:
Signs informing the area is a Public Spaces Protection Order ( PSPO) have been placed by Derby City Councils Community Safety Partnership team as part of our joint work around street drinking and drug taking/ dealing in and around Burton Road. Anyone found to be involved in ASB that has a detrimental effect on the community can be issued with a fine of up to £1000 to prevent further issues. Signs have been requested for areas such as Swinburne Steet, Mount Street and Gerard Street. Regular perpetrators we will seek to issue a Community Protection Notice Warning, which come with conditions to prohibit certain behaviour, any breaches of which, again incur a fine.
Signs have been placed in Shaftesbury Park as part of PC Skevingtons problem management plan to tackle nuisance motorbikes and E-scooters; several motorbikes have been seized from offenders, as well as stolen ones recovered. Educational inputs in schools have occurred over the previous school term in a bid to inform young people on the legality and dangers of E-scooters, this will continue in the new term.
Many thanks,
