Appeal for Information Following Theft from Vehicle in Tadcaster

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for information following a theft from a motor vehicle in Tadcaster.

The incident occurred between 10:30am and 5:30pm on Monday 17 August 2026 at Britannia Car Park, Tadcaster.

The victim's vehicle, a Vauxhall Astra was parked within the central area of the car park during this time. Upon returning to the vehicle, the victim noticed that the fuel warning light had illuminated. Prior to parking, the victim reports that fuel remained in the vehicle and believes that fuel was stolen whilst the vehicle was unattended.

Officers are carrying out enquiries and are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the Britannia Car Park area between 10:30am and 5:30pm on 17 August and who may have seen any suspicious activity around the vehicle.

We are also appealing to anyone who may have relevant dashcam footage, CCTV footage, or any information that could assist the investigation.
