PSPO - Public Space Protection Order |
||
|
On 18th August 2026, officers from Catford South Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT), alongside a Lewisham Community Enforcement Officer, conducted a joint patrol in the area of Sangley Road, SE6 2JT, and the junction with Inchmery Road. This patrol was carried out in response to reports from local residents regarding groups gathering in the area, consuming alcohol and causing distress to members of the community. Officers remained in the area for approximately two hours, conducting high-visibility patrols, engaging with residents, and providing advice and reassurance. No incidents of anti-social behaviour were identified during the patrol. However, concerns raised by residents have been noted, and further patrols will continue to be conducted to monitor the area and provide an ongoing visible presence. The patrol also provided an opportunity to raise awareness of the Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO). A PSPO is designed to help address behaviours that have a detrimental effect on the quality of life of those in the local community. Where appropriate, individuals may be given words of advice regarding their behaviour. If anti-social behaviour persists, Lewisham Community Enforcement Officers may consider enforcement action, including the issuing of Fixed Penalty Notices where legislation permits. Catford South SNT remains committed to working closely with our partners and local residents to reduce crime, tackle anti-social behaviour, and keep our neighbourhoods safe. We encourage members of the public to continue reporting concerns so that we can effectively identify and address issues affecting the community. Catford South Safer Neighbourhoods Team
