BEYOND THE SURFACE | 07 | Boundaries Matter |

One thing we learn through neighbourhood policing is that understanding someone’s circumstances doesn't mean we have to accept behaviour that harms others. People have different lives, different struggles and different reasons for ending up where they are. We should listen. We should understand. We should look for opportunities to help. But there also has to be a boundary. A resident should be able to walk down their street without being intimidated. A parent should be able to take their child through a public space without having to navigate drug use or threatening behaviour. A business should be able to open its doors without dealing with repeated disruption. And people who are vulnerable still deserve protection — including from those who may take advantage of them. Compassion and boundaries can exist together. Good neighbourhood policing isn't about judging everyone we encounter. It's about recognising when behaviour has crossed a line, understanding the impact on others, and taking the appropriate action. Because shared spaces belong to everyone. Everyone has a right to feel safe in them. Beyond the Surface. #BeyondTheSurface #GreenStreetSNT #NeighbourhoodPolicing #CommunitySafety #BoundariesMatter
