Good evening,

As you are probably aware of the ongoing wildfires that are decimating large areas of land in Wales. We are not immune to it unfortunately and over the past two days we had a wildfire by the Lliw Reservoir. I am glad to report that this fire was swiftly dealt with and has been extinguished by the Fire Brigade. The Fire Brigade are doing a wonderful job in tackling these fires. There must also be a special mention for the farming community that have also assisted in tackling these wildfires across Wales.

We can all do our bit to help those tackling these fires by following the below advice.

The Wales Wildfire Board's #WildfireWise campaign reminds us all to take simple precautions when enjoying the outdoors and to avoid activities that could unintentionally start a fire.

We are asking everyone to:

Don’t light anything outside that could create a spark that causes a fire

Stay away from the areas where emergency services are dealing with incidents

Don’t fly drones in the area, as they can disrupt emergency operations and pose a risk to the incident operations - including helicopter operations

We have seen instances of deliberate fire setting, please report any suspicious behaviour to police by calling 101

Follow any local restrictions or safety advice in affected areas.
