The People Around Us.

        Behind every street, business or community space are people who contribute to making it safer and stronger — families, young people, faith groups, local businesses, community organisations and residents who look out for one another.  So to say, the Neighbourhood is more than the problems we see.

Sometimes a small number of people or behaviours can have a disproportionate impact on those around them. But it is crutial not to lose sight of the bigger picture.

People in most cases want the same thing.. to feel safe, respected and able to go about their daily lives without fear or disruption.

This is why neighbourhood policing isn't just about responding when something goes wrong.. also about understanding the people around us, building relationships and recognising the positive connections that already exist within our communities.

A family that's looking out for a young/vulnerable person.. A faith group offering support.. A resident speaking up about a concern. A local business helping to keep its surroundings safe.. 

These connections matter.!  They can help identify vulnerability earlier, prevent harm and sometimes provide a route away from negative influences.

A neighbourhood would never be defined just by its problems — but by the people's willingness to help shape its future.
