SAFER NEIGHBOURHOOD TEAM ENGAGEMENT DAY MESSAGE |
||
|
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at today's community event!
The sun certainly turned up in force, and judging by some of the rosy faces leaving the event, it may have been the busiest member of staff on duty. We hope everyone enjoyed spending time with us, meeting our partner agencies, having a chat, and perhaps picking up a little more than just a tan, hopefully some important safety messages too.
The main aim of today's event was to raise awareness of the risks associated with climbing buildings and exploring other structures. While climbing can look fun and harmless from the ground, the reality is that a fall from height can have life-changing consequences. We wanted to encourage young people to think about the risks, make safe choices, and understand that no social media post, dare, or shortcut is worth risking a serious injury.
To help get that message across, we gave people the opportunity to tackle a climbing wall and a mobile cave in a safe and controlled environment. It was great to see so many people getting involved, testing their skills, and discovering that climbing and caving are a lot more fun when there are trained professionals on hand.
We hope those brave enough to tackle the climbing wall made it to the top, and for those who didn't quite conquer Everest today, there's always next time. The cave was also a huge success, although, we're still not entirely convinced some of the younger visitors ever wanted to come back out.
We'd like to say a massive thank you to our partner agencies for supporting the event and helping make the day such a success:
Your continued support and commitment to keeping our communities safe is greatly appreciated.
A special thank you also goes to 270 Climbing for once again providing the brilliant climbing wall and cave. As always, they proved incredibly popular, and we suspect there may be a few future rock-climbing champions among today's participants. Either that, or a few tired parents wondering why they agreed to ‘just one more go’
Finally, thank you to everyone who attended. Events like these are only possible because of the fantastic support from our local community. We loved meeting you all, hearing your stories, answering your questions, and seeing so many smiling faces throughout the day.
