Increased Patrol due to Wildfire Risk

We are increasing patrols in woodlands in the Pontyclun and wider area due to the increased wildfire risk. 

Wildfires can be caused by both deliberste actions, and actions of those not educated with fire safety.

There have been recent instances in Pontyclun, and the wider South Wales area, where deliberate fired have been started, and this has had a devastating impact on wildlife, the einvironment and local communities.

On Friday evening a Pontyclun resident phoned 999 as 5 youths were lighting a fire in woodlands. Myself and a colleague attended and located the 5 youths. There was evidence of a small fire, but it had extinguished. The 5 youths were educated on fire safety and the risk of wildfires. The 5 youths have recieved ASB Referrals for Anti Social Behaviour, and their parents have also been spoken to.

Patrols will continue to be increased for the foreseeable future.
