Stay alert to jewellery thieves in your area

Please be aware of a concerning new criminal trend we have been made aware of where offenders target older people across London and attempt to distract them while stealing high value items. 

Typically, suspects approach an elderly person from a vehicle and engage them in conversation, often asking for directions or offering a gift. They then attempt to distract the victim by placing costume jewellery on their wrist or in their hand before giving them an unwanted hug. During this distraction, high-value gold jewellery is stolen.
