Southall’s Local Police Team, working hand‑in‑hand with Ealing Council, has successfully cleared a long‑standing encampment on South Road outside the old derelict church, a location that had become a persistent concern for residents, businesses, and commuters.

Southall Police Deliver Visible Good News for the Community

On Wednesday 12th August Southall Local Police Team, in close partnership with Ealing Council’s Community Safety and Environmental Services, has removed an unauthorised encampment that had been causing significant distress along one of Southall’s busiest routes. For weeks, the site outside the old derelict church had deteriorated into an eyesore. Vulnerable individuals were sleeping rough, drug users were frequently loitering, and the area became heavily littered with waste and drug paraphernalia.

Residents and nearby businesses raised repeated concerns about safety, hygiene, and the impact on the neighbourhood’s appearance. 

What Prompted the Action

 Numerous complaints from residents and shop owners. Reports of anti‑social behaviour, including drug use. Increasing public safety concerns. The site becoming a magnet for rough sleeping and littering. These concerns were logged, assessed, and escalated through joint police and council channels, leading to a coordinated response. 

Partnership Working at Its Best.

The operation was carried out through a multi‑agency approach, combining: Local Police Enforcement and Council Environmental Services.

Local police teams offering support to individuals on site  and officers also ensured the area was made safe, while council teams cleared debris, removed hazardous waste, and restored the location to a clean and accessible public space.

The removal of the encampment has already brought noticeable improvements: Cleaner and safer environment for pedestrians and businesses. Reduction in anti‑social behaviour. Improved public confidence in local policing. Restoration of pride in a key part of South Road. Residents have expressed relief and gratitude, noting that the area now feels more welcoming and secure. 

This action demonstrates the continued commitment of Southall Local Police Team and Ealing Council to respond to community concerns swiftly and effectively.
