🛴 Concerns Around E-Scooter Use in Our Communities We're receiving reports of anti-social behaviour involving e-scooters, including riding on pavements, travelling at excessive speeds in pedestrian areas, and causing alarm or distress to members of the public. While e-scooters may seem like a convenient way to travel, it is important to understand the law surrounding their use. ✅ In some parts of the country, rental e-scooter schemes are operating as part of Government-approved trials and can be used legally in accordance with the scheme's rules. ❌ However, privately owned e-scooters cannot legally be used on public roads, pavements, cycle paths, or in other public places. They can only be ridden on private land with the permission of the landowner. Irresponsible use of e-scooters can put pedestrians at risk, particularly children, older people, and other vulnerable members of our community. 👨👩👧👦 Parents and guardians are encouraged to speak with young people about the safe and lawful use of e-scooters and the potential consequences of using them irresponsibly.
