Over the past week, Gravesend CSU has been out across the borough tackling crime, anti-social behaviour and road safety concerns, whilst continuing to engage with residents, businesses and partner agencies.

🍺 Operation Pilot – Licensing & Drugs Enforcement

Officers joined partners from the Licensing Team and Kent Police's Drugs Dog Unit as part of Operation Pilot, conducting visits to licensed premises across Gravesend.

Operations such as these help ensure licensed premises remain safe environments for customers and staff. They also help identify those involved in drug use and supply, deter offending, and maintain a safe and vibrant night-time economy for everyone visiting Gravesend.

🚬 Illicit Tobacco Enforcement

Over the past few days, officers have continued to target the sale of illicit tobacco products within the town.

🚬 Approximately 10,000 illicit cigarettes seized from a number of shops across Gravesend.

Removing these products from circulation helps protect consumers, support legitimate local businesses and disrupt criminal activity.

🚓 Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour in Gravesend Town Centre

Dedicated patrols have continued throughout the town centre, focusing on issues raised by residents and local businesses.

📝 2 PSPO Fixed Penalty Notices issued

A Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) is in place within Gravesend Town Centre to address behaviour that negatively affects others. Breaching the PSPO can result in a £100 Fixed Penalty Notice.

The notices issued this week were for:

🛴 Nuisance vehicle use – An illegal e-bike being used in breach of the PSPO was seized by officers. The rider received a £100 Fixed Penalty Notice and will be dealt with for the relevant offences.

🍺 Street drinking – A £100 Fixed Penalty Notice was issued to an individual consuming alcohol within a restricted area.

Street drinking can often contribute to anti-social behaviour, disorder, intimidation and littering, impacting residents, visitors and local businesses.

🏊 Cascades Leisure Centre Patrols & Community Engagement

Following reports of anti-social behaviour, officers increased patrols around Cascades Leisure Centre and surrounding areas.

🤝 Officers also attended community events at Cascades, speaking with local residents, families and young people, providing reassurance, answering questions and listening to concerns.

Visible patrols and engagement remain key to preventing issues and ensuring the area remains welcoming for everyone.

🚗 Road Safety Enforcement

Officers have continued proactive action against unsafe and uninsured drivers.

🚔 Multiple vehicles seized for having no insurance
📝 Traffic offence reports issued for a range of road traffic offences, including driving without a licence and insurance

Removing these drivers from the road helps improve safety for all road users.

🔎 Offender Management & Enforcement

Throughout the week, officers have carried out proactive work to manage offenders and protect the public.
