Weekly Update - E-Scooters |
||
Weekly Update from PC Jon Bowler (46011454)Beat Officer for Little Stour & AshstoneGood afternoon, E-Scooter Concerns in AshWe have seen an increase in reports relating to the use of e-scooters within the village of Ash. I was in the village today and spoke with a number of those believed to be involved, along with their families. Whilst no enforcement action has been taken at this stage, those spoken to have been made fully aware that if they are seen riding e-scooters on public roads, footpaths or other public places, the scooter may be seized and the rider reported for the relevant driving offences. I would also like to remind everyone that under UK law, privately owned e-scooters can only be ridden on private land with the landowner's permission. They cannot legally be ridden on public roads, pavements, footpaths, cycle paths, parks or other public spaces. I would be grateful if parents and guardians could discuss this with young people to help ensure they understand the legislation and the potential consequences of riding e-scooters unlawfully. Local Beat SurgeriesI will be out and about across the beat area throughout the remainder of the week. My next drop-in sessions will take place tomorrow, Thursday 13 August 2026: 📍 Wingham Village Hall 📍 St Nicholas Church, Ash No appointment is required.
