Your City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team continue to focus on the issues that matter most to local people.
Their current priorities are: Tackling anti-social behaviour on the Embankment and in RivergateProtecting people in public spaces across the city centreAddressing anti-social behaviour in North WestgateDuring the first six weeks of this quarter's activity, there have been encouraging reductions in a number of crime types across the city centre compared with the same period last year, including: Violent offences down by 4.9%Sexual offences down by 55%Arson and criminal damage down by 26.7%Public order offences down by 21.6%Overall recorded crime down by 4%While reports of some offences, including theft and knife possession, have increased, the overall picture shows a positive reduction in crime across the city centre.
To achieve these results, officers have been carrying out a range of proactive activity, including: Executing warrants at residential and commercial premises to disrupt criminalityConducting high-visibility patrols in hotspot locations to deter offending and reassure the publicRunning plain-clothed operations targeting prolific offenders and anti-social behaviourArresting prolific shoplifters causing significant harm to local businessesTargeting individuals responsible for the highest levels of harm in the communityEnforcing outstanding warrants, prison recalls and locating wanted individualsWorking closely with businesses, residents and partner agencies to identify concerns and develop long-term solutionsThe team remains committed to maintaining this momentum, continuing to focus on these priorities while responding to emerging crime trends and concerns raised by the community.
