Vehicle Crime Prevention

Park Hill and Whitgift Safer Neighbourhood Teams are reminding residents to remain vigilant following a number of recent reports of theft from motor vehicles, theft of motor vehicles and vehicle interference across the wards.

Many offenders are targeting insecure vehicles or vehicles containing valuables left on display. We encourage all vehicle owners to take a few simple steps to help reduce the risk of becoming a victim:

Always lock your vehicle and ensure all windows and sunroofs are fully closed.

Remove all valuables from your vehicle, including bags, mobile phones, wallets and sat-navs.

Do not leave items on display, even for a short period of time.

If you own a keyless vehicle, consider using a Faraday pouch to prevent relay theft.

Park in well-lit areas where possible.

Consider using additional security devices such as steering wheel locks, trackers or dashcams.

Remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour around vehicles to police.

We are carrying out patrols in hotspot locations and working with partner agencies to tackle vehicle crime and identify those responsible. Your information is vital in helping us target offenders.
