As we are in the middle of yet another heatwave this year, we notice while out on patrol that all our beauty spots and fields are still tinder dry. With no rain forecast for a while we remind everyone of the advice given by our Fire Service colleagues to help prevent wildfires which are spreading across parts of our country and abroad.
Don't use disposable barbecues, maybe have a picnic instead.
Take all litter home especially glass bottles.
Make sure cigarettes are fully extinguished and disposed of sensibly.
Call 999 immediately if you spot a wildfire
It takes just one small spark to start a fire that can spread rapidly, putting people, homes and wildlife at risk. All our emergency services are stretched at this time of year so the more we can do to help prevent incidents from happening the better. |
