Lozells and East Handsworth Neighbourhood update 03/08/2026 – 11/08/2026

Welcome to this week’s crime and community update for the Lozells and East Handsworth area. Our neighbourhood team remains committed to tackling key crime issues affecting residents, especially around domestic abuse, robbery, burglary, and vehicle crime. We also continue to engage with schools and local partners to provide early intervention and support.

🛑 Crime Updates

Theft from person:

There have been three reported incidents of theft from person were gold necklaces have been stolen.

Heathfield Road

Wills Street

Lozells Road.

➡️ Victims are encouraged to avoid resistance, note suspect descriptions, and report incidents promptly. Investigations are underway. Patrols remain active in hotspot area.

Burglary:

We have received one report of burglary in the last 8 days. Burglary at 3.31am on 10/08/2026 on Finchley Avenue.

➡️ Please remain vigilant and review your home security — consider alarms, CCTV, and good lighting.

Vehicle Crime:

There have been three reported Theft of Motor vehicle on Albert Road, Crompton Road and Hutton Road.

There have been two reports of Theft from motor vehicle on Hartington Road and Albert Road.

➡️ Key-less entry theft remains a concern. Please use Faraday pouches, remove visible items, and consider physical deterrents like steering wheel locks.

Team Highlights

06/08/2026 - A great afternoon at Domin8 Gym who are hosting the 5UP holding program. We used the VR to discuss the implication of anti-social behaviour. Good to see self defence and foot all skills in display too!!

07/08/2026 – Officers attended a joint drop in surgery with Councillor Ed Freshwater at Handsworth Library.

08/08/2026 – Officers attended the Welcome Café / Food Bank at St Andrews Sport & Community to offer help and support to residents who attended.

Officers from the team recovered 1’700 illegal cigarettes from a vehicle seized for no tax.

Officers conducted patrols of Lozells.
