Beyond The Surface / 01

What we see isn't always the whole story..

Sometimes we see someone struggling in a public place. Someone repeatedly using drugs., Someone sleeping rough., Someone involved in antisocial behaviour. Someone who seems angry, withdrawn or lost.

It is easy to see the behaviour and make a judgement. But what happened before?

There may be concerns of loneliness.. exploitation..addiction..fear, trauma, pressure or simply nowhere else to turn. 

That doesn't mean harmful behaviour should be ignored. Keeping people safe still matters. Boundaries still matter. Accountability still matters.

Our Neighbourhood policing are encouraged to ask deeper & different question to the situation.. “Beyond The Surface.”

Over the coming days, Green Street SNT will explore some of these issues — vulnerability, exploitation, drugs, domestic abuse, young people and community safety.

Not to excuse harmful behaviour… Not to label people.

But to understand deeper, Aim to prevent harm sooner and help seek people with appropriate support.

Because sometimes, before someone can change direction, they first need someone to help them see that an exit exists.
