Westcotes Beat – Weekly Neighbourhood Update 

Dear residents,

We wanted to provide you with an update on some of the activity and work carried out by your local policing team across the Westcotes beat over the past week.

Community engagement

Officers attended the opening of the LASS CIC Community Hub and Café on Belgrave Gate. Community engagement is an important part of our work, and attending events such as this provides us with an opportunity to meet residents, community organisations and partner agencies. We are keen to continue building positive relationships within the local community and working together to address issues that matter to residents.

CCTV enquiries

Officers have also been carrying out urgent CCTV enquiries in relation to incidents reported within the beat. CCTV can be an important source of evidence when investigating incidents, and officers have been working to identify and obtain relevant footage to assist with ongoing enquiries.

Recovery of suspected stolen property

We have assisted with the retrieval of items believed to have been stolen. Work such as this forms part of our ongoing efforts to investigate offences, recover property and provide support to victims.

High-visibility patrols

High-visibility patrols have continued throughout the week, with officers concentrating on identified hotspot areas. These patrols are intended to deter crime and anti-social behaviour, provide reassurance to residents and businesses, and allow officers to engage with members of the public.

We continue to review information and reports received from the community to help us identify where patrols and other policing activity can have the greatest impact.

Supporting a vulnerable member of the community

Officers assisted a vulnerable person who had broken down while using a mobility scooter. The priority was to ensure that the individual was safe and supported and that appropriate assistance was provided.

Vehicle enforcement

We have also taken action in relation to vehicles identified as being subject to a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN) or having no valid vehicle tax. Where appropriate, these vehicles have been taken off the road.

We will continue to deal with vehicles that are being used unlawfully and encourage residents to report concerns about vehicles being used in their area.

Street Surgery – Come and speak to us

We will be holding a street surgery next week and would encourage local residents to come along and speak with members of your neighbourhood policing team.

This is an opportunity to raise any concerns you have about your local area, discuss ongoing issues, ask questions or simply come and introduce yourself to the officers working in your neighbourhood.
